Playing – Senior Team (Ages 18+)

The Pirates have a team of highly experienced coaches capable of both bringing through brand new talent and developing the skills of existing players.

Training takes place on Sundays from the beginning of January on the indoor synthetic pitch at Hamilton Palance Sports Ground and from the end March we move outdoors to Duncanrig High School in East Kilbride, and also add in midweek sessions at Hamilton Palace Sports Ground on the grass rugby pitch.

Our season typically runs from April-August, with the playoffs in September if the team qualifies. Annual subs are currently set at £192 for new players and £264 for returning players. All players are required to pay by standing order. In addition, you will be required to pay your own league registration fee which covers insurance and competition entry – currently £35.00.

If you’re interested in trying the sport, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Our 2017 Rookie Day is Sunday 8 January from 12-3pm indoors at Hamilton Palace Sports Ground. We’ve information available on what we have to offer, what we expect from you and how much it costs. Sign up to our Facebook invite or drop us a line at info@piratesfootball.co.uk to find out more.

Playing – Women’s Team (ages 18+)

Although girls and women aged over 14 are very welcome to play in any of our other existing teams, we now have a dedicated team to take advantage of the growth of flag and tackle football for women only. Training currently takes place at Stonelaw High School in Rutherglen on Wednesday evenings. To find out more contact tom@piratesfootball.co.uk

Coaching

The coaching staff at the Pirates is comprised entirely of volunteers and in order to support the team and continue to develop as an organisation, we always welcome new coaches.

You don’t need to be Vince Lombardi to help out, just a basic understanding of the sport and the necessary skills to deliver information and help make our players the best they can be. The Pirates will fund all new coaches through their British American Football Coaches Association (BAFCA) Level 1 certification and support them in attending the annual BAFCA convention.

If you’re interested in becoming a coach with the Pirates, contact us via info@piratesfootball.co.uk

Volunteering

Running a team from year to year is a job that takes the time and effort of a lot of people. The Pirates are always on the lookout for willing volunteers to do whatever they’re capable of – from design to flyering and postering to just about anything you can think of! You don’t need to be able to offer a huge amount of time, even a few hours here and there can make a difference.

In particular, making game days a special event for spectators is important and if you can spare a few hours to lend a hand with the set up and running of these, your contribution would be welcomed. To help out in any info@piratesfootball.co.uk
